All hardware is original and complete with some minor scuffing and general wear. The white poly body finish has some scuffing, dings and dents and a few chips to the wood but no major wear, the clear neck finish is very clean. This guitar has some light general wear to the body finish but no notable damage, repair or alteration. (3.2 cm.) in depth, measured at side of rim. (31.1 cm.) wide at lower bout, and 1 1/4 in. Now decades along these simpler vintage Fenders have been gaining appreciation as great-playing, handy guitars and even this late 1970s version is no exception. By this point foreign-made guitars had captured much of the lower priced market and these student-grade Fenders were no longer selling in the huge quantities of the 1960s. The white poly finish is lightly worn but still vibrant and the guitar is completely original 45 years along. This features a 24" neck making for a more player-friendly instrument than the shorter scale 22 1/2" used on many earlier models. This year the Musicmaster adopted the pickguard silhouette of the Bronco, probably so only one pattern needed to be made for the two declining student-priced models. The serial number decal on the headstock dates this guitar to 1978, as does the pickup stamp and the visible pot code indicating the 18th week of that year. This model was redesigned after 1975 into a starker black & white thick-skin machine, but still an excellent student-grade guitar. This is a nice playing example of Fender's perennial student model the Musicmaster, still in production late in the 1970's. Fender Musicmaster Model Solid Body Electric Guitar (1978), made in Fullerton, California, serial # S805212, white polyester finish, alder body, maple neck with rosewood fingerboard, hard shell case.

The proto-membrane was likely formed by self-assembly of simple readily available amphiphiles, such as short-chain fatty acids and alcohols. One of the first steps in the origin of life was the formation of a membrane, a physical boundary that allowed the retention of molecules in concentrated solutions. Our study highlights the intimate coupling of structural and dynamical plasticity of MBP, and its fundamental difference to the behavior of ideal polymers in solution. Within the model of the Brownian oscillator our observations can be rationalized by a loss of friction within the protein due to structural expansion. NM analysis demonstrates that the relaxation rates of internal modes of MBP remain unaffected by GndCl, while structural expansion due to GndCl results in increased amplitudes of internal motions. A significant contribution of internal friction was found in compact states of MBP that approaches a non-vanishing internal friction relaxation time of approximately 40 ns at high GndCl concentrations. NSE data of MBP were analyzed using the Zimm model with internal friction (ZIF) and normal mode (NM) analysis. A concentration of 0.2 M GndCl causes charge screening in MBP resulting in a compact, but still disordered protein conformation, while GndCl concentrations above 1 M lead to structural expansion and swelling of MBP. Here, we present a study on perturbation of MBP structure and dynamics by the denaturant guanidinium chloride (GndCl) using small-angle scattering and neutron spin–echo spectroscopy (NSE). Myelin basic protein (MBP) is intrinsically disordered in solution and is considered as a conformationally flexible biomacromolecule. With SANS, we apply a simple fitting model for two component microemulsions (Teubner-Strey), demonstrating this as a potential method to investigate the structure, chemical composition, and colloidal stability of perovskite solutions, and we here show that MAPbI3 solutions age more drastically than triple cation solutions. We further conclude that if there are larger colloids present, their concentration must be <0.005% of the total dispersion volume. We find that DLS can misrepresent the size distribution of the colloidal dispersion and use SANS/SESANS to confirm that these perovskite solutions are mostly comprised of 1-2 nm-sized particles. In this work, we use various scattering techniques, including dynamic light scattering (DLS), small angle neutron scattering (SANS), and spin-echo SANS (SESANS) to probe the nanostructures from 1 nm to 10 μm within two different lead-halide perovskite solution inks (MAPbI3 and a triple-cation mixed-halide perovskite). Tailoring the solution chemistry of metal halide perovskites requires a detailed understanding of precursor aggregation and coordination. The results prove that the aggregation state of the sample can be followed using in situ DLS along with the neutron measurement. The protein sample apomyoglobin was used for a long-term test and in a first neutron measurement using the new Bio-Oven. It was demonstrated that also the static light scattering signal can be processed and gives meaningful results. Their hydrodynamic radii were determined from DLS measurements and compared with the ones obtained by a commercial particle sizer. Test experiments were performed with silica nanoparticles with diameters ranging from 20 nm up to 300 nm. Six different values of momentum transfer can be accessed by switching between two different laser colors. It collects light from three scattering angles simultaneously. The new Bio-Oven is an in situ DLS setup based on optical fibers decoupling the free space optics around the sample cuvette in a lightproof casing from the laser sources and the detectors. This approach helps to validate the NSE data or to replace the sample when its aggregation state influences the spin echo measurement results. DLS provides diffusion coefficients of the dissolved nanoparticles, and thus one can monitor the aggregation state of the sample on a time scale of minutes during the spin echo measurement times on the order of days. It provides active temperature control and the possibility to perform Dynamic Light Scattering (DLS) measurements during the neutron measurement. A new sample environment, called Bio-Oven, has been built for the Neutron Spin Echo (NSE) Spectrometer J-NSE Phoenix. (I got one for my sibling and it was too big (they are rather petite, but most kids under 13 would have this issue in my opinion), we looped it twice which works and I’m sure they’ll grow into it - but it can cause the elastic to pinch a bit if it moves the wrong way, thus isn’t the best fit for littles (along with concern of durability over time) - though that has yet to be tested) However with that said they haven’t taken it off and absolutely love it, as do I. I’ve been following Ewaso Lions for a long time and loved being able to help that as well. Plus the post card is so cool and cute I even hung it up! And when I ran into an issue with shipping (my half, Fahlo wasn’t the issue, I had received the wrong package partially) they were very helpful, efficient, and kind. The stone marbling and lion detail is incredibly beautiful (mine is the Pride stone, though I’m sure they all are as pretty as shown on the website, as this one was) Tracking my lion was very easy, and has been very fun. It’s beautiful, fits me well, comfortable, and surprisingly durable. I couldn’t say enough good things about Fahlo, Ewaso Lions, and these bracelets!!! I absolutely love this bracelet and this cause to support. What exactly does that mean? To make this easier, let’s walk through the process of installing Wine and then installing and running a Windows application with the tool. In fact, the developers of Wine have gone out of their way to make the compatibility layer as user-friendly as possible. You might think, because of the complexity of bringing such a tool to life, that Wine would be complicated to install and use. Granted most of the Wine work is focused on games, but you’ll still find a healthy list of productivity apps available. To date there are thousands of fully supported applications that now run on Wine (check out the application database for a full list) and that list is ever growing. Over time more and more applications were supported until Wine became a must-have tool for many users and businesses (and especially Linux gamers). If you wanted Notepad, Calculator, or Solitaire…you were good to go.īut then something interesting happened. It wasn’t perfect, and the supported apps were limited. The name is now simply Wine.Įffectively, what Wine did was to allow Windows applications to run on the Linux platform. The name originally stood for Wine Is Not an Emulator (because everyone mistook the tool for a Windows emulator). To overcome this weakness, a compatibility layer called WINE was created. This issue was especially critical in the world of business ─ where Windows desktop applications could make or break productivity. Back in the mid 90s and early 00s, Linux, being a fledgling operating system, suffered from a severe lack of useful applications. The Cobalt silver boom has left a rich legacy of old buildings and mining structures, leading to its recognition by TV Ontario as Ontario’s Most Historic Town and designation as a National Historic Site. However, one mill still operates and there is exploration in the area. Mining was revived in the 1950s then slowly dropped off, so that there are no active mines now. The wealth extracted from Cobalt helped drive the Ontario economy in the early 20th century and the business activity associated with Cobalt mining helped build up the Canadian banking industry and the Toronto stock exchange.īy the late 1920s the boom was winding down and Cobalt started to decline. The Haileybury School of Mines, in nearby Haileybury, has been training mining professionals from around the world since Cobalt’s heyday. Innovations included developments in silver ore extraction and a compressed-air power system which took advantage of the power of the nearby Ragged Chutes waterfall on the Montreal River. Hard rock mining refers to the extraction of metals and gems from, literally, hard rocks, while soft rock mining refers to the mining of soft materials, such as tar sands, coal or salt. The population of the town, and surrounding area, went from 100, in 1903, to a peak of 10,000 in 1909 (compared to 1,223 in 2006).Ĭobalt is called the birthplace of Canadian hard rock mining because technology developed in Cobalt was later applied to other mine sites. People were attracted from around the world to seek their fortunes in Cobalt, including Russians, Poles, Chinese, Greeks, Italians and Finns. That year in New York, for three days in a row, mounted police were called upon to clear a street of people who were frantically trying to buy Cobalt mining shares from curbside brokers. At its height in 1906, investment in mines, operating or prospective, was estimated to be $75-million. The silver rush extended far beyond Cobalt. The peak year was 1911 when 34 mines produced about 30-million ounces (about 850,000 kilograms) of silver. That’s almost $16-billion worth at today’s silver prices (June 2011). Soon, Cobalt was a boom town, as the district became one of the largest silver-producing areas in the world, eventually yielding a total of 460 million ounces (more than 13 million kilograms) of silver. Silver was discovered in the area in the summer of 1903, during construction of the Temiskaming and Northern Ontario Railway. Cobalt was the birthplace of Canadian hard rock miningĬobalt, Ontario, played an important role in the evolution of the mining and financial industries in Canada. Each card has an aura (blue, green, red or yellow) class (healer, melee attack, ranged attack or support) type (everything from beasts to dragons to fairies) and their own ATK, HP and MP stats – which you will need to study to understand them. Your deck must be composed of at least 30 and not more than 40 cards, with only 3 of each individual card allowed. This has basic options allowing you to sort by aura or type, but is somewhat fiddly to get to grips with. You open virtual card packs using simulated moves (swiping the touchscreen to peel the pack open then flipping them by touching), after which you can change your composition in the deck builder. This takes the form of a world map, albeit one where you simply move from location to location in generally straight lines with only the odd branch off – which usually either contains money, new cards or rub points (more on this later).īuilding your deck is integral to any card game and the tools here are decent, but could be better. Structured somewhat like a linear Pokemon game, Monster Monpiece has you travelling different regions of the world, battling other card users for the aforementioned story reasons. As it stands, it not only achieves this feat but does so with a surprisingly addictive package that I genuinely enjoyed from beginning to end. Voice acting meanwhile is fully Japanese and extensive, which is a nice touch.Īs one of only a handful of card games on Vita, Monster Monpiece wouldn’t have a high bar to clear to be classed as the best on the console. There’s a few good pieces of music here that can be quite catchy, but Compile Heart have produced better works in the past and there’s nothing included that would rank among my favourite VGM. Menus could also be a little bit better designed, feeling rather workman-like, but they’re functional like much of the UI design. Which is what makes it odd that I did encounter slowdown repeatedly when there are a few cards on screen – this isn’t a title that is pushing the technical capabilities of Vita. Battles also tend to have nice animations with explosions and spells flying off as the girls pull off moves, but it is all very basic. These are unnecessary fanservice where the girls moan and lose clothing as you poke and prod at them, but they’re short and otherwise lively with effects. The models that duke it out are chibi and only barely match their card art, which comes to life during the rubbing scenes. Yet even within this there are little touches, like the backgrounds changing depending on the area you’re in (so it might be an icy lake in one area and a medieval castle the next). The world map is just a 2D sketch with animated locations you choose to move to, while the duelling arena is just a 7 x 3 grid with blue and red for each combatant. Indeed, this low budget shows throughout in other aspects of the game. Bizarrely, the NPC’s you battle are sketched without eyes which makes them feel generic and unlike the memorable opponents you battle in something like Pokemon – but of course, this is a much more budget game. 2D artwork for the conversation scenes is static with only mouths moving, but it’s nicely drawn and each of the girls has unique elements to their clothing. So there are various different elements at play here. While the majority of Monster Monpiece could pass as a PSP game, I found a certain charm to its simplistic graphics – putting aside its obvious and heavy-handed fanservice. Overall, it’s not a disaster, but I certainly wouldn’t play this one for the story. It’s not helped by the traditional Compile Heart banal conversation between the characters either, who are mostly cutesy stereotypes without much in the way of defining features. There’s a world-ending threat, the girls unite to defeat it and along the way fight in a copious amount of card battles for only vaguely plots related reasons. There’s a fairly interesting setup in Monster Monpiece and certainly there are moments of intrigue and events that caught me off guard, but overall this is a fairly vanilla story that doesn’t take any great risks or excite in any way. Along the way, their friend Elza becomes ‘Lost’ – losing her mind and attempting to start a war between the humans and monsters – and so May and Fia must recover the remaining Magus Quartz to help her recovery and save the world. The game starts with a human named May and a monster girl named Fia, who set out on an adventure to travel to each Academy and recover the Magus Quartz, which will help them defeat a great evil that has resurrected. The opening text scroll of Monster Monpiece explains how the Gods punished humans by inflicting monsters upon them, until a number of Academies were created which allowed them to coexist.
